What is Kobudo?
Okinawan Kobudo is the art of weapons training originating on the island of Okinawa, Japan. Kobudo teaches students how to defend themselves by using many different weapons. Each weapon varies in shape, size and style – which helps students learn how to coordinate themselves using many different objects.
Through repeated lessons and mastering the correct techniques, you can execute various moves with very little conscious effort. Thus, you’ll increase your offensive and defensive potential in any situation.
Is Kobudo Safe to Learn?
Our primary concern is the safety and wellbeing of all our students. Our Kobudo Lessons in Castle Hill are conducted in a controlled environment and taught by experienced instructors. We have the necessary space and facilities to teach students how to correctly use any weapon.
Every class teaches you the basic fundamentals (kihons) of each weapon and how to safely use them. We focus strongly on technique and mastering the various forms (kata) first, before you can progress to practicing sparring with your peers (kumite).
Like any martial arts training, you will undoubtedly face many challenges in regards to your physical and mental capabilities. With the support of your peers and our experienced instructors, we aim to help you achieve balance between the mind and body.
